Oct 26, 2008 - I remember when this video came out and the shit they got for it. To you n00bs, its nothing, but it was controversial at the time
21bodgie Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - An exaggerated and untenable parallel between mass pop culture and genocide, mass political manipulation which ends up as a mulch of visual cliches with a lot more more Marilyn Manson than Laibach. No coincidence then that Death in Vegas ran out of ideas a few years later and got into recycling.

Dec 20, 2008 - haha yeah but what does it mean?
KillSwitch2 Says:
Dec 25, 2008 - This is a cool video visually and viscerally but it will never be great because I don't think it has any meaning. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?The girl at the end with the pig smiling at the multi-armed Nazi soldier. wtf is the point of that beyond looking kinda cool?
ManiacalHex Says:
Dec 26, 2008 - I gotta say when I first saw the video back when it came out on mtv, it made no sense at all but I fukin' love this track and the video's awesome, director Andrea Giacobbe's film work is a different style that I like. Check out some other work he's done.
fazedfairy Says:
Dec 29, 2008 - yeah i dont think it has any meaning either but that doesn't mean its not a great video. they were obviously smart when choosing all that crazy random shit, with everyone wondering what the big meaning of it is.
machiavelli1984 Says:
Dec 30, 2008 - supposedly its about the downfall of western civilization. makes sense to me
fazedfairy Says:
Dec 30, 2008 - then elaborate so it makes sense to all of us. i'm having a hard time understanding how albinos and fat chicks represent that..the godlike nazi in sexy lingerie as well.
machiavelli1984 Says:
Dec 30, 2008 - Godlike nazi-represents the demagoguery that led industrialized nations into warFranco,Hitler, and Mussolini are products of democratic populismLingerie represents the seduction of the hypnotized crowdPigs-corruption,greedAlbinos-? Fat chicks-well obesity has become a problem in post industrial BritainBombed out arch ways-roman ruinsWhite doves-the allusion of peaceA riot cop kicking a soccer ball to a chanting crowd-Giacobbe knows what happens at Italian soccer games
machiavelli1984 Says:
Dec 30, 2008 - eye exam cards-blind leading the blind7 foot blonde freak model-pop culture is absurd-Giacobbe knows fashionFalling cross-Christianity no longer social force in EuropeThe cross is framed behind billowing smokestacks-industrialization replaced spiritualityCross pulled down by U.S soldiers-iconic Joe Rosenthal photo at iwo jima-imperialismLight girl-dark girl-good-evil-lamb represents innocence and vulnerabilityexotic gold dancers-false idolatry-one is literally a golden calf
machiavelli1984 Says:
Dec 30, 2008 - disillusioned man sitting next to a clock-spirit of the timesfuneral-death of traditional cultureOne child family-low birth rates in developed countries-no more big Italian familyThats how Giacobbes abstract symbolism reads for me. Maybe thats just coming from an Italian perspective. Of course your interpretation is just as valid.
Barkoviak Says:
Jan 4, 2009 - It is quite obvious that you cannot get over yourself.
machiavelli1984 Says:
Jan 7, 2009 - Im quite modest barkoviak. I just dont like to see Giacobbis work dismissed as crazy random shit that will never be great because it doesnt mean anything Comprende?
ManiacalHex Says:
Jan 8, 2009 - I can't even start to tell you how many times I've seen this music video, I can tell you it's one of my old time favorite's. Giacobbe's expression's break the ice, expanding new horizons. His art to me is one of a kind.
machiavelli1984 Says:
Jan 8, 2009 - If you like Giacobbe check out Maurizio Cattelan and Jake and Dinos Chapman. They do the sculptural equivalent
Barkoviak Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - Yeah, all that symbolism is boring.
machiavelli1984 Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - Then stick to eve online. Nothing more exciting than middle aged men interacting in a fantasy world
